The Mystery of the tch-tch-tch-tch!

When was the date we went to pick up something from S at G Cluster? We heard the tch-tch-tch-tch-tch coming from the tree next to G01 but couldn't spot the bird as it was too dark!  19 January Walking around in resonance. the tree to the left of the Central Lawn as you eneter. The tch-tch-tch-tch-tch sat in the foliage way up high and peer as I might, in all the angles i could, nicely remained hidden! 20 Jan repeat of the previous instanmc.,..how infuriating! 24 Jan 2025 I was sitting in the vegetable garden minding my own business and trying to avoid all the mosquitoes. When I heard the tch-tch-tch I ignored this one for I did not want to move from my perch. Someone's pressure cooker went off. And the tch-tch continued from somewhere in H cluster. I didn't bother. But when it moved to the tree next to G01, I couldn't resist, because I somehow felt I had to do this! I scooted to the trellis part and pulled out merlin. Merlin happily kept IDing it as white cheeked barbet...

The Mystery of the Web on the Spikey Fruit

Image
Did they move? What was the shape? Are ants walking around them? Guarding them? Yes, the ants were guarding them I think the spikes of the fruit provides a very useful scaffolding for them to weave a web around the fruit So basically, I had to peer over someone's railing to look at these. The chap whose house it was came out and then I had to explain my creepy-looking presence with my head inside his tree. Managed to do that. Then he went in and came out with soursop juice for me! So his explanation was "These are good ants. They come and weave this web and protect the fruit while it's growing. When the fruit has fully grown, they leave the fruit and go away." But I think the sap sucking bugs are feeding on the fruit and the ants are tending them, no? are these bugs that have been moved there by the ants? but I'm finding something different online - saying that the weaver ants are actually helping with pest control
